Our world today is dominated by all things digital, from cell phones, computers, tablets, ipods and cameras. No doubt, developments in the digital world have greatly facilitated laborious and repetitive
tasks:computations, drawings, letter writing and note-taking have been made more efficient both in duration and appearance.
But every advancement that man makes is sadly accompanied by negative side-effects which would be foolish to ignore.Cars have made transport easier, but one is cursed by poisonous exhaust-fumes, advances in medical science by the development of dangerous drugs whose long-term effects are often unknown, and progress in technology by the construction of extremely nuclear and chemical weapons which today threaten our existence on earth.
Similarly, developments in the digital world are not without its accompanying drawbacks. In general people read much less literature, resulting in a drop in literacy and verbal skills. Students have beome dependent on calculators to the extent that computational skills, both mental and written deteriorated talarmingly. Social-interaction on a personal level has been greatly hampered by the preoccupaton with didital gadgets.Very many young people suffer from sleep -disorders owing to their obsession with digital-chatting and videos.
More will besaid on this topic in the near future.
