Barrydale, small town on the R62 between Montagu and Ladysmith.
One main road where u mostly get everything
like OK, Absa bank,Pep stores, Police station etc, Shops still closed at 2 on Saturdays and open on Mondays at 8. NO ROBOTS..
Township 15 min walk from "dorp" Population about five thousand, poor community but warm and
friendly. Unemployment big worry, most families depend on government grant. others farm workers.

Everybody knows everyone so they know exactly when visitors arrive and leave. There is not much activities in the community karaokes Fridays and Saturday evenings listen to the old folks stories and jokes. In winter its icy cold and very hot in summer because its surrounded with mountains, what a breathtaking view everyday. Very quiet u can still walk late at night, sometimes leaves your door unlocked, no burglar bars or high electrical fences. If u look for peace and quiet BARRYDALE is the place to take a break.
